Salads are just one of the most healthy ways of consuming them with zero processing, like in strawberry jams and jellies that have added sugar. But you will be glad to know that strawberry is one such fruit that can be added to fruit salads and vegetable salads, meat salads, and seafood salads. The possibilities and combinations are endless, and that’s why we highly recommend you add them as a part of your diet. How to make Strawberry Salad

  • Fresh Strawberries – 1 cup thoroughly rinsed and sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves – ⅓ cup
  • Cherry tomatoes – 1 cup halved
  • Mozzarella cheese – 1 cup halved mini balls
  • Avocado – 1 ripe diced
  • Pecans – ⅓ cup toasted
  • Extra-virgin olive oil – 1 – 2 tablespoons
  • Balsamic vinegar – ¼ cup
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

  1. Take a small saucepan and place it over medium heat. In the saucepan, add the balsamic vinegar. Bring the vinegar to a simmer. Now lower the heat to the bare minimum and let it simmer for 7 – 8 minutes to slowly reduce it until it is left to half of its original. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool down.
  2. Wash and rinse all the strawberries, cherry tomatoes, and basil clean. Repeat this process 3 – 4 times to ensure they are completely rid of any dust and dirt.
  3. Take a serving bowl and place strawberries, cherry tomatoes, and basil in it. Mix them well. Put pecans, mozzarella, and avocado pieces over them and drizzle the mix with olive oil.
  4. Sprinkle in some salt and freshly crushed pepper.
  5. Now give the entire mixture a toss so that the salt and pepper mix thoroughly with the contents.
  6. Finally, drizzle the Balsamic vinegar over the entire mixture.

That’s it, your salad is now ready. Balsamic and strawberry combinations can work wonders. The balsamic vinaigrette pairs very well with the sweetness of the strawberries. While this might seem basic, but it’s still nutritious and can hold its own, meaning you can consume it without the need to pair it with anything else. But we all want variations, fun, varying texture, and a lot of color to the basic salad too. So these are the things you can do with the salad to make it even more enjoyable.

Variations for Strawberry Salad Recipe

  1. Replace the mozzarella cheese with crumbled goat cheese or feta or parmesan.
  2. You can add yogurt to increase the taste profile and add another flavor to the salad.
  3. Add some green leaves. You can use around 2 – 5 ounces of any greens you like, e.g., Kale, Arugula, Spinach, spring greens, spring mix, or a baby kale blend, etc. The greens take the level of presentation to a whole new level and also taste fantastic. Also, the natural sweetness of strawberries will balance the peppery, bitter greens like arugula.
  4. To add crunchiness and a different texture to the salad, you can add ¾ cup finely chopped red onion.
  5. Seeds go very well with the salad taste and dressing. You can add sunflower seeds and chia seeds which are rich in Omega nutrients. You can add them as it is, or you can roast them to increase the flavor.
  6. If you so desire, you can add thin jalapeno slices to increase the spiciness, but don’t overdo it. It’s good to err on the side of caution.
  7. You can add some syrups to increase the taste, like maple, or even drizzle some honey.
  8. For added variation, try one tablespoon Dijon mustard.
  9. You can add asparagus, radish, or cucumber for increased fiber while still cool for the summers.
  10. You can add herbs like basil and tarragon, which form a naturally good combination with strawberries.
  11. Adding other fruits like pineapple, mango, and honeydew will give a rich taste.
  12. You can add crushed or diced dry fruits like almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, pecans, wonton strips, cashews, etc., and even poppy seeds, sesame seeds, etc. Also, you can roast the dry fruits before using them, and they will provide a pleasant crunchy taste.
  13. You can also add meats like chicken, pork, beef, and turkey to the salads, and they are pretty filling and give an excellent taste to plant-based salads. In addition, you can also add seafood to the salad, like adding some shrimp or fish balls. Would you please ensure the meats are finely shredded?
  14. You do not have to stay limited to strawberries, and you can add it in combination with other berries to make an even more colorful salad full of nutrients.

These are a lot of variations in themselves and can keep you going months at a time without repeating. In addition, there are a ton of homemade salad dressings you can experiment with as well. So try out a few and enjoy the salads.
