The majority of us know how to make dark chocolate at home, but few know how to make white chocolate at home. So, I am here with a simple recipe for making white chocolate at home.
- 1/3 cup of icing sugar
- ¼ cup of cocoa butter
- 1/8 tablespoons of salt
- ¼ tablespoons of vanilla essence
- Two tablespoons of milk powder
If you’re dealing with a large block of cocoa butter, start by slicing it into smaller pieces. Uniform if the chunks are uneven, the smaller, more even portions will melt more quickly and equally.
Boil water in a saucepan. Put a bowl over it in such a way that it should not touch the boiling water. Add ¼ cup of cocoa butter to it (in the bowl over the pan). With a spoon, stir it until it melts. Gradually add the icing sugar while constantly stirring the mixture. After you have finished with the icing sugar, add the milk powder. To avoid lumps, thoroughly combine everything. Combine the vanilla essence and the salt in a mixing bowl.
Switch off after mixing. As you can see, the consistency should be flowing smoothly. Fill the chocolate mold halfway with the mixture. Refrigerate for at least one hour. The mixture should not stick to your fingers and should be hard when you touch it. Your white chocolate is ready. Now it’s time to take the chocolates out of the mold. Look at how well it’s turned out. You can serve it now or can keep it in the refrigerator.
Recipe 2 (Vegan Recipe)
Vegan white chocolate is difficult to find at stores, and you can easily make it at your home with a handful of ingredients. In this, we use a cream base of cashews rather than milk powder.
- ¼ cup of raw chopped cacao butter
- four tablespoons of nonhydrogenated vegetable shortening
- one tablespoon of smooth, natural cashew butter
- 1 cup of confectioner’s sugar
- ¼ teaspoon of kosher salt
- one teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
The method is almost the same as simple white chocolate; only a few ingredients are different.
Place the cacao butter and shortening in a medium heat-safe bowl. Indirectly heat the bowl by placing it over a small saucepan of boiling water. Make sure it does not touch the water. Allow the cacao butter and shortening to melt together, stirring frequently. It will be a thin mixture.
Add the butter and stir well to blend while the mixture is still boiling. Now mix the confectioner’s sugar, salt, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth. Remove the bowl from the saucepan. Set the mixture aside to cool for few minutes before transferring the mixture to a cup to pour into molds. Refrigerate the mixture in silicone molds for about 40-50 minutes or until it becomes solid. Remove the molds from the oven and serve.
How to Store White Chocolate
I prefer to keep my homemade white chocolate in the fridge because it is untempered. One can also keep it in the refrigerator for almost two weeks, and also, you can store them in the freezer for up to two months.
Flavoring of White Chocolate
White chocolate can be flavorful with a variety of wonderful flavors. It’s simple to execute and will set your candy recipe apart from the rest. Using oil-based flavors will prevent your chocolate from clumping and getting harsh. These oil-based flavors (sometimes known as candy flavors) are available in various flavors.
