Also, you can use this seasoning in multiple dishes. However, you can easily find this at any grocery store. But there is no need to spend money on it when you can easily make poultry seasoning at home.
Poultry Seasoning is nothing more than a seasoning mix, and this spice blend’s primary purpose is to flavor chicken, turkey, and stuffing. But it can also give red meats, vegetables, savory pies, soups and stews, and various other delicious foods a boost.

It mainly contains thyme, marjoram, nutmeg, rosemary, and black pepper. Still, you can add spices like dried and ground ginger, parsley, oregano, dried onion, granulated garlic, cayenne pepper, lemon peel, and celery seeds.
Methods of Making Poultry Seasoning
- One tablespoon of dry ground sage
- One teaspoon of rosemary
- One tablespoon of dry ground marjoram
- One teaspoon of crushed celery seed
- One teaspoon of ground black pepper
- One tablespoon of dry ground thyme
Take a small bowl, a chicken seasoning storage jar, a small whisk, and a set of measuring spoons. This recipe is for classic dried poultry seasoning and will produce about ¼ of a cup. Because most of the recipes only call for a teaspoon or two, you can have more according to your need with this recipe.
You may need to replace dried or lumpy spices with fresher spices if they are dried or clumpy. Spices should be tasted and smelled.
In a small mixing bowl, combine all dried ingredients and use a whisk to blend the seasoning properly. Your poultry seasoning is ready to use or store once the spices have been mixed.
How to Store Poultry Seasoning?

This recipe is for making fresh herb poultry seasoning.
- One tablespoon marjoram, finely chopped
- 1/2 tablespoon black pepper, freshly ground
- One teaspoon celery seed,
- One teaspoon nutmeg,
- One teaspoon ginger powder
- Three tablespoons thyme, finely chopped
- Three tablespoons rosemary, finely chopped
- Three tablespoons sage leaves, finely chopped
Take a small bowl with a capacity of 8 ounces, a storage jar or container for your chicken seasoning, a whisk, a sharp knife, and a cutting board. This fresh herb poultry seasoning produces around 3/4 cups.
You’ll need more fresh seasoning than dry chicken seasoning because the flavor of fresh herbs is not quite as concentrated as it is in dried herbs.
Clean the herbs thoroughly and discard the woody stems. Place them on a chopping board and set them aside. Using a sharp knife, carefully cut the fresh herbs until they are fine. For this, you have to chop three tablespoons of rosemary, three tablespoons of thyme, one tablespoon of marjoram, and three tablespoons of sage.
Combine chopped herbs with remaining fresh herbs in a bowl. And mix it with the help of a whisk. New herb poultry seasoning is ready now, and you can easily store it.
How to Store Fresh Poultry Seasoning
The herbs are fresh, you must utilize them right away, or they will lose their flavor. Take an airtight container and transfer new herb seasoning in it and cover with a tight-fitting lid. Use this seasoning as soon as possible after making it. You can make the seasoning ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
Uses of Poultry Seasoning
In Soups and Casseroles
You can use poultry seasoning in soups and casseroles. If you are tired of using essential salt and pepper for seasoning your soups and stews, try using this one. Put it in a spice jar and pour a small amount into whatever you are cooking. Taste the dish and adjust your seasoning as needed until the flavor is to your satisfaction.
If you’re using something that already has a chicken stock base or chicken broth, poultry flavor works exceptionally well.
In Marinades and Sauces
Add a couple of pinches of poultry seasoning to any chicken or poultry meal you’re marinating. Any flavors you’ve already applied to the meat will benefit from it. Marinades and sauces can be seasoned for barbecued chicken.
A combination of poultry spice, vinegar, oil, egg, and salt and pepper is used in many barbecued chicken marinades.
