Let’s Take It Step by Step

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 360º F.
  2. Slice the corn tortillas into quarters (mini triangles) and put them in a mixing bowl. **You can also use a cookie cutter & make small bite-sized rounds (2 ½ inch rounds) for the chips.
  3. Spray over the corn tortillas covering all of the chips.
  4. Sprinkle the bowl of tortillas with seasonings of choice. Gently toss them around with a set of tongs, and make sure each chip has some seasonings on each piece.
  5. Spray, with cooking spray, the basket of the air fryer. Place each tortilla flat along the bottom of the basket; we can get about 10-12 chips per batch.
  6. Air fry for about 5-6 minutes, flipping halfway through (I give the basket a shake-shake-shake, then place the basket back into the air fryer for another 5-6 minutes until chips are golden brown & crispy. The total cook time for one batch of chips will be about 10-12 minutes, depending on your preference for crispiness.

Variations and Options

  • Suggestions on variations of seasonings: Old Bay, lime salt, salt /pepper, chili powder (if you want a kick of heat)
  • Any cooking spray will work, our #1 favorite spray is olive oil spray.

What We Suggest Pairing it With

Homemade Tortilla Chips pair exceptionally well with avocado salsa, homemade queso, skinny taco dip, fresh salsa.

Helpful Hints

  • Here is where I will share all of my trials and errors while making my homemade tortilla chips in the air fryer. We’re all human, so here are a few mistakes I have made along the way.
  • Flour tortillas and low carb tortillas will not crisp as much as the corn tortillas will, therefore giving it a different texture and crisp. I do not like them in a “chip form.”
  • The Corn tortillas will have you completely satisfied.
  • Bake on a slightly higher temperature. If you bake at 350º, you will have to cook the corn tortillas, for at least five additional minutes, on each side. So to save yourself some time, because, hey, time is valuable, and set your air fryer up 10-20º at 360-375º.
